Walks in Lancashire: Fair Snape Fell and Parlick near Chipping 2/06/07

Myself and my friend Lee parked the car at the foot of Parlick hill. We arrived around 10:45am and the weather was fantastic. Clear skies (apart from gliders, para gliders, and the odd microlight) and hot sunshine. Perfect weather for walking. We started to ascend Parlick and my friend Lee had serious issues with his respiratory levels (he was f***ed before we even started).

We rested twice before we reached the summit of Parlick, drunk some water, consumed grapes, bananas and pringles. As we ascended the 1500ft to the top I enquired to Lee what the unpleasant aroma was and he replied its Sir Edmund Hilary shitting himself!. We reached the peak around 11.20am and took in the view. We descended down Parlick onto Blindhurst Ridge and noticed a sign at the bottom that read " Warning: Keep Out possible unexploded shells" I don't think the f***ing KEEP OUT bit was necessary but suffice to say we didn't go exploring the area for unexploded shells. As we climbed Blindhurst Ridge onto the Fair Snape hill I noticed a man jumping out of a microlight and landing head first he got up and walked towards us and as he got closer I recognised it was Bear Gryllis! "F**k me! what you doing out here? " I asked and he replied "looking for some snakes to eat" I told him he wont find any here and then directed him to Norcross Buildings and told him there are plenty of the f***ers that work there. So off he went running towards Norcross. Anyway, (I sound like Ronnie Corbitt) we descended Fair Snape and went through a farm then made our way towards the car.
We cut through a wood and I rested on a log that crosses a stream. We continued and at this point my feet were burning and cows were staring at me in an "I want to eat you" kind of way so we couldn't wait to get back to the car. We went over the second to last style and low and behold the car stood out like an oasis in a desert. We went for a pint and an ice-cream in Chipping village and both items went down a treat. Overall top walk and I would do it again.
